To explore a more business-oriented angle of Design Engineering, I decided to attend the Wharton Global Youth summer program in Product Design during the month of June in 2025.
Since my design was so intricate, carving it was extremely tedious, which is why I decided to laser cut it instead.
We would often have product pitches, which was something entirely new to me. Over time, we would make basic cardboard prototypes of our ideas. After giving pitches, others would vote on their favorite pitch/idea. Eventually, the number of products left got smaller and smaller.
I ended the program by being part of a product called SnapSeam, which is designed to lessen the length of long pants while looking just as good as before, without the need of a professional tailor.
The two rings snap together to clip the excess length on the pant legs under the hem and inside the leg. We first made a 3D printed version, but then switched over to a flexible resin material instead as a more reasonable option for comfort.
